Adoption Center Assistant Supervisor- New!

Responsibilities include: coordinating activities of the Adoption Center including supervising, training and assisting staff; monitoring daily work schedules; ensuring quality control, handling customer service issues, and meeting and talking with the public. This person must be extraordinary at establishing and maintaining strong working relationships and maintaining a positive and professional public image at all times. This full time position is the main point of contact for our Adoption and Receiving Desk. Responsibilities include: interacting with and providing information to public in person and by phone, receiving payment for all Adoption Center transactions, cleaning reception and animal areas, completing and filing paperwork, operating Adoption Center computer system, conducting animal intake, processing adoptions, and providing essential care to animals received. Lead Veterinary Technician
Adoption Center- Chesterfield Valley
The Humane Society of Missouri is seeking a veterinary technician who is licensed in Missouri to serve as a leader in our Adoption Center examination room. This position conducts routine exams and lab tests, administers medications and maintains animal health including treatment of sick and injured animals as directed by our veterinarians. This position is also responsible for coordinating the spay and neuter and foster programs, preparing and implanting staff training programs, and managing the work flow of the exam room. Previous experience in a shelter or veterinary clinic setting is required. Applicants must also possess organizational skills, have excellent communication and leadership skills and be computer literate. Must be a graduate of a veterinary technology program and have a current Missouri license and have the availability to work on weekends. Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred

Veterinary Assistant-New!

We are seeking an individual with veterinary hospital experience to work in our AAHA accredited veterinary clinic and surgery center. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual that possesses knowledge of animal health care, animal restraint techniques, and surgery preparation in addition to being detail-oriented, and having excellent communication and multi-tasking skills. This position assists veterinarians; restrains animals, dispenses surgical equipment; lifts animals to weigh for medications/anesthetics, preps animals for treatment and/or surgery, maintains supply inventory, monitors anesthetic solutions, give medications, applies splints/bandages and cleans/disinfects surgery equipment. The ideal candidate will also be excellent at maintaining strong working relationships with HSMO coworkers and customers and maintaining a positive and professional public image at all times. This individual should have animal handling/restraining experience, experience in a veterinary hospital setting. Also must be available for shifts Monday thru Saturday and flexibility to work at all three of our locations (St. Louis, Maryland Heights, and Chesterfield Valley).

This position works in a busy veterinary clinic contact center that receives around 900 – 1100 calls per day. Primary responsibilities include: setting up veterinary appointments, directing callers to internal and external sources, answering questions, and always providing efficient and excellent customer service. Statewide Animal Cruelty Investigator (Southeastern MO)- New!
Animal Cruelty Taskforce
The Humane Society of Missouri is currently hlooking for a dedicated individual with excellent communication and animal handling skills to respond to calls regarding the welfare of animals. Primary responsibilities include the investigation of cases related to animal neglect, abuse and abandonment, education of pet and livestock owners, the promotion of responsible animal care, and assisting the Animal Cruelty Task Force with the rescue of animals due to distressing conditions or disasters. This mission oriented position requires the candidate to have self motivation, excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills, coupled with the knowledge of responsible pet ownership, and must display a high level of professionalism at all times. Previous animal related experience and/or investigative or security experience is required. Due to the nature of the job, weekend and on call availability is a must. Areas served are the Southeast Missouri counties of Texas, Howell, Shannon, Oregon, Carter, Ripley, Madison, Wayne, Butler, Perry, Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Scott, Stoddard, Mississippi, New Madrid, Pemiscott and Dunklin.

Assistant Animal Health Technician

We are a seeking highly motivated individual with a passion for helping animals to work at our St. Louis City location as an Assistant Animal Health Technician. This position provide all animals in the Adoption Center with proper care and attention including cleaning and sanitizing cages, runs, floors, and rooms, providing food and water, and restraining animals for medical procedures. Must be able to work well in challenging emotional settings. Requirements: high school diploma or equivalent, animal handling experience, excellent internal customer service skills, and open availability (including weekends).

Part Time Adoption Counselor
Adoption Center-Maryland Heights
We are looking for an individual to work around 16-19 hours per week as a Part Time Adoption Counselor. Animal Adoption Counselors take care of dogs, cats, rabbits and other pets while they wait for their new families to take them home. We are looking for people who have animal handling experience and excellent customer service skills, and are passionate about helping animals find their forever homes! Responsibilities include feeding, watering, walking, kennel sanitation, and general care of the animals. Previous experience in animal care is preferred and must be able to work weekends.

Contact Center Supervisor

Primary Responsibilities:
Supervising contact center staff, preparing and maintaining reports, preparing work schedules, expediting work flow, handling client needs and concerns, monitoring calls, studying and standardizing procedures to improve the Contact Center, preparing and conducting training programs, taking and following through on messages, notifying management of issues and emergencies, validating and posting transactions on all necessary forms, and keeping electronic appointment book and veterinarian's schedules updated as needed.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must also have experience directly supervising four or more employees in a call center setting. Must be available to work Saturdays as needed.

Must be excellent at establishing and maintaining strong working relationships and maintaining a positive and professional image at all times. Must also be able to handle difficult and/or emotional client situations and understanding with the Humane Society of Missouri's mission. Volunteer Manager
Volunteer Department- Macklind

This position manages the organization’s volunteer program to augment, support and advance a variety of programs and services at the our three St. Louis area facilities and Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in Union, MO.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Screens new volunteers and matches them to the appropriate program
• Conducts volunteer orientation, training, and mentoring
• Assesses volunteer performance
• Coordinates internships and service learning programs
• Maintains and updates volunteer manual
• Maintains volunteer database and runs reports
• Fosters open communication among volunteers and between staff and volunteers and maintains strong, positive working relationship with volunteers
• Develops and executes a volunteer communications program
• Provides motivational and reward activities and services to retain and engage volunteers

Education/Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must also have supervisory and training/public speaking experience and the availability to work weekends or evenings as needed.

Skill Requirements:
Must be excellent at establishing and maintaining strong working relationships and maintaining a positive and professional image at all times. Qualified candidates will have excellent communication, supervisory, public speaking/training, and multi-tasking skills along with strong attention to detail. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and managing databases. Animal handling skills and/or knowledge of animals preferred.
