Humane Society now receiving flood displaced pets at Winfield High School; temporary shelter at Pike County Fairgrounds remains open

The Humane Society of Missouri, which has been providing animal rescue and sheltering in flood ravaged areas along the Mississippi for the past week, is now providing pet receiving services through its Mobile Animal Rescue Trailer stationed at the Winfield High School in Winfield, Missouri.

Humane Society of Missouri Opens Temporary Emergency Pet Shelter in Pike County
June 17, 2008
As part of its continuing effort to assist flood victims, the Humane Society of Missouri at noon today will open a temporary shelter for household pets in Bowling Green, Missouri, at the Pike County Fair- grounds on Highway 54. Persons seeking assistance with temporary shelter should use the east entrance of the fairgrounds; there will be signage directing them to the Humane Society of Missouri’s location.

The Humane Society of Missouri Disaster Response Team has been kept busy with herding 50 head of cattle and the rescue of 12 dogs and 4 horses. Three injured horses were taken to the Carthage Humane Society and one injured donkey was taken to the Joplin Humane Society.

Humane Society of Missouri Transports Another Group of Animals Displaced by Floodwaters in Caruthersville

March 28, 2008- For the third time, the Humane Society of Missouri has transported a group of animals from the already full Caruthersville Humane Society. 48 dogs and 9 cats were transported back to the Humane Society of Missouri shelter on Macklind Avenue and will be placed for adoption.
